Position Description:

FPA’s Investment Operations Department is responsible for key operational risk functions including the oversight of FPA’s middle office services provider, SEI Investments Company (“SEI”).  FPA is searching for a candidate with proven knowledge of equity and fixed income securities and hands on experience across one or more middle office functions to assist our team with the daily oversight of SEI.  Additionally, this position will support performance review and GIPS composite preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor trade activity throughout the day to ensure all executed trades get sent from FPA’s order management system, Charles River (“CRD”) to SEI and that acknowledgement messages are received back.
  • Review daily reports from SEI covering trade confirmation, trade fails, cash and position reconciliations, and more to look for risk items and ensure fast and appropriate resolution.
  • Monitor CRD for same day settling trades being executed, and handhold downstream with SEI to ensure the trades settle on time.
  • Act a liaison between SEI and FPA’s traders and portfolio managers.
  • Liaise with FPA portfolio managers as needed to source elections on voluntary corporate actions and provide those to SEI.
  • Liaise with FPA portfolio managers to source proxy vote elections and support compilation of annual proxy reporting.
  • Review end client reporting packages for quality control purposes.
  • Primary reviewer of monthly account performance and back-up for performance reporting deliverables.
  • Compilation of GIPS composite reports
  • Assist FPA’s Investment Operations Control & Oversight Manager hold middle office services provider accountable to negotiated service level agreement (“SLA”) and key performance indicators (“KPIs”).
  • Establish a sound working relationship with all internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of all relevant legislation and market best practices

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years investment industry experience
  • Hands-on experience in one of more investment operations or fund accounting functions required.  This could include: accounting, performance and analytics, bank loan settlements, trade operations, and/or corporate action processing.
  • Must possess and demonstrate a working knowledge of equity and fixed income investments with the skills and ability to work in an entrepreneurial and team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to enable clear articulation while working with internal and external clients.
  • Must be proactive – willing to pick up the phone or walk into someone’s office to quickly escalate and resolve issues.
  • Strong understanding of MS Excel.
  • Experience working with the following vendors/systems a plus:
    • Advent Geneva
    • Charles River Investment Management System (CRIMS)
    • Wall Street Office
    • Bloomberg
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; financial major preferred.

This position will be fully remote work from home. If the candidate is in the Los Angeles area, they will also have the option to work from our El Segundo office if they prefer.

Compensation: $125,000 – $150,000 base salary + bonus including comprehensive benefits package. Base salary will be determined by applicant’s skills, experience, geographic location, and pay equity considerations.
