Business Development Senior Associate

Los Angeles, California

Position Description

FPA is seeking a motivated internal business development senior associate to provide proactive outbound sales support and initiate service to financial intermediaries on a nationwide basis. This person will utilize market, industry and product knowledge to determine and meet investor’s needs while promoting FPA’s products and services. They will enhance the relationship between FPA and investors by exceeding prospect and client needs and adding value at every interaction. This is the first tier within the FPA business development career path.  This position can be located anywhere in the continental US.
  • Partner with FPA’s external facing business development professionals by coordinating FPA marketing resources and delivering sales and service support. 
  • Provide business development support to financial intermediaries with a particular focus on advisors, broker-dealers, RIAs, and trust companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales and service support for FPA’s external business development team
    • Provide support to FPA’s external business development team.
    • Ensure timely and comprehensive email, call, and meeting follow up is completed. Maintain ongoing relationships with select prospects and clients.
    • Identify new, follow-on, and cross-selling sales opportunities. If necessary, coordinate and drive the sales process taking ownership to close business including working with other teams at FPA.
    • Assist in the setup and management of calls, meetings, and trips for BD team members across country. Coordinate marketing collateral production and distribution and ensure respective team members are equipped with all required marketing collateral.
  • Data and client relationship management system management
    • Maintain the FPA client relationship management (“CRM”) system by collecting and recording key data for all interactions with FPA clients and prospects. Maintain weekly, or even daily, communication with the external business development team.
    • If necessary, renovate and improve the data collection process and the type, frequency and quality of data in the CRM system.
    • Use information gathered in daily interactions and market research to proactively address issues on monthly/quarterly conference calls and/or selectively suggest altering marketing collateral.
  • Communicate with prospects, clients and analysts using or considering FPA:
    • Conduct proactive marketing emails and calls to prospect firms. Handle inbound calls for all levels of sales (acquisition, development, retention).
    • Convey sales ideas, disseminate product information and answer high level strategy and product questions to prospects and clients.
    • Listen, probe, uncover and analyze needs and recognize potential sales/service opportunities.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in marketing or business preferred
  • Two years of experience in an investment management sales or service role requiredSeries 7 and 63 license required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat required
